FORMER NEWSMAN TURNED LAWYER JOINS ILOCOS REGIONAL DENR OFFICE

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – – A practicing lawyer has joined the Regional Office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources here further boosting the capability of the agency’s Legal Division.

Lawyer Lito Salatan assumed his duties as second ranking regional DENR legal officer last month after his appointment papers were signed by Regional Director Paquito Moreno, Jr.

A former vice- mayor of Cordon town in Isabela province, Salatan is accredited professor of the Philippine Public Safety Center, a
Non-government organization providing free legal assistance to qualified litigants. He also obtained a master’s degree in education.

Known for his expertise on property and environment laws, Salatan completed in 2014 the Pre-Judicature Program of the Philippine Judicial Academy.

An advocate of judicial reform, he has had several special training in alternative dispute resolutions and administrative adjudication, and taught law subjects in various colleges and universities in Region 2 and Metro Manila.

Before passing the bar exams in 2004, Salatan was for many years a correspondent of the Philippine Star and wrote for various community newspapers in the Cagayan Valley.
