Former drug surrenderer nabbed in Aurora buy-bust operation

MARIA AURORA, Aurora — A former drug surrenderer was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 1 in this town before midnight on Saturday.

A team from the Maria Aurora Police Station (MAPS) led by their station chief, Police Senior Inspector Bayani A. Balbuena, arrested Efren Reyes, alias Renz, 31, who earlier surrendered under Oplan Tokhang anti-illegal drugs campaign.

“Efren surrendered before Christmas last year under Oplan Tokhang but apparently go back to his old ways,” SPO2 Angelo N. Gawat said.

“If drug surrenderers backslide and engage in the illegal drug trade again, then we will not hesitate to arrest them,” he said.

Gawat said they conducted the operation after receiving a report about the suspect’s notorious illegal activities in the barangay.

“Prior to his arrest, numerous complaints were received by the police authorities regarding the rampant selling of illegal drugs targeting students, farmers among others which resulted to the immediate surveillance, casing and buy bust operation,” he said.

Seized from the suspect were two hand-wrapped dried marijuana leaves.

Reyes will be charged for violation of iRepublic Act 9165 of Article 2 section 5 and 11.
