URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan — Fire stations from different local government units (LGUs) in the province jointly put out the fire in a general merchandise store in the central business district here Friday morning.
“The fire was reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Urdaneta City at 7:32 a.m. It has reached second alarm before it was totally extinguished at 10:45 a.m.,” said Atty. Jimbert Cerezo, chief of BFP Urdaneta City.
He disclosed they had hard time putting out the fire in “Walo Walo” store due to the combustible materials the warehouse contained.
“We have asked the help of BFP in Dagupan City, Binalonan, Calasiao, Malasiqui, Villasis, Asingan, Sta. Barbara and Manaoag,” Cerezo said.
The cause of the fire and the amount of damage it has incurred are still to be determined as the investigation on the incident continues, he added.
Cerezo said the 1,500-square-meter warehouse and its contents were totally damaged by the fire, while one fire officer had a minor injury caused by falling debris but he was already treated.
He said there were no casualties reported.
This is the first fire incident in an establishment in the city recorded this year, he added. Hilda Austria/PNA-northboundasia.com
