CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte — Fire razed the administration building and some classrooms at the Currimao National High School (CNHS) on Tuesday evening.
In a radio interview, Rolly Bernardo, a teacher of the CNHS said each classroom just finished their Christmas program on Tuesday afternoon when he passed by the school building already on fire.
He said the blaze may have started from the administration office building, as it spread out to the offices of the principal, cashier, supply, library, computer laboratory and science buildings.
Firefighters have yet to identify the estimated cost of damages. No one was hurt during the incident.
School authorities here lamented all pertinent documents including class cards of pupils were inside the administration building, including cash at the cashier’s office.
At least 49 newly-acquired computers, 2 laptops, projectors, television, books and school furniture turned into ashes at the computer laboratory and at the Grade 7 Pearl.
Ilocos Norte Schools Division Superintendent Araceli Pastor said this is a “sad day” for the school while celebrating the season of Christmas.
The Currimao National High School just completed its renovation with new classrooms added for the implementation of its K-12 program. PNA-northboundasia.com
