CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – A 30-year-old guard was arrested by the authorities hours after shooting down his co-worker in Barangay San Eugenio, Aringay town last Monday.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado, Jr., La Union’s police information officer, identified the suspect as Joy Balaoro, 30, of Aringay; while his victim was Rey Baldemor, a native of Barangay Namit-ingan, Dolores, Abra.
Investigation showed that Balaoro and Baldemor had a heated argument while they were on duty inside the compound of Mayor Eric Sibuma. Their shouting match ended when Balaoro pulled out his gun and fired at the victim, who was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival.
It was not known what caused the quarrel and what kind of firearm Balaoro used in killing his victim.
The police requested further investigation by Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) of the Ilocos Police Regional Office in San Fernando City.
Balaoro is now in detained at the Aringay police station pending the filing of court charges against him. Erwin Beleo/NPN-northboundasia.com
