FARMERS RESCUE TYPHOON ‘NONA’ VICTIM FROM PANTABANGAN DAM RESERVOIR

PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija — A 46-year-old farmer from nearby town of Castaneda, Nueva Vizcaya who was caught by the floods brought by typhoon Nona while reportedly hunting birds was rescued Friday by residents of this town from the waters of Pantabangan Dam, police reported on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Reynaldo Cajucom, 45, resident of Barangay Abuyo, Castaneda.

According to Superintendent Ricardo Villanueva, commander of the Nueva Ecija Police’s Provincial Public Safety Company (NEPPO-PPSC), Cajucom was found floating on Pantabangan Dam reservoir here by farmers Isidro Carasco, 43 and Gerry Decina, 37.

The victim was turned over by the farmers to policemen, who were then helping in the clearing operations in the vicinity of Casecnan power plant.

“The survivor suffered minor injuries on his head and body,” Villanueva said

The lawmen brought the victim to Pantabangan health center for medical check up before turning him over to his family, he added. PNA
