ROSALES, Pangasinan — A pedicab driver who for long pretended to be a dentist was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the police and the Philippine Dentist Association (PDA) Pangasinan chapter at about 7:00 a.m. Friday in Barangay Station District in Rosales.
The suspect was identified as Richard de la Cruz, alias “Repot”, 47, who will be slapped with the case of Anti-Illegal Practice of Dental Medicine.
He was arrested after fitting the dentures of a confidential asset of the PDA-Pangasinan Chapter who pretended to be a dental patient.
The arrest was made after he received the marked money of Php 1,000 bill, two Php 100 bills and one Php 200 bill.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of assorted dental materials such as: six replica (Alginates), six upper impression trays, five lower impression trays, 15 positive impression casts, three pink wax, six bite wax (5 pink and 1 yellow), one rubber bowl, five dentures (RPD), 38 pontics assorted, one metal spatula, four carvers, two bottles of Self curing liquid, one mouth mirror, 12 ortho wires (assorted), screw driver, 14 rubber (ortho), oneimprovised ortho plier, one box containing plaster of paris, one hemostat curve plier, three sachets of Self curing powder, five sand papers, one spoon, one camel brash, one metal saw and one empty container containing yellow cast stone powder.
The suspect tried to escape and threw away the marked money but was nevertheless collared after a brief chase. PNA-northboundasia.com
