MEXICO CITY — An explosion in a building used as a backstreet fireworks factory near Mexico City killed at least three people, local authorities said.
The blast occurred on Monday in the township of Tultepec, Mexico State Governor Eruviel Avila Villegas said, emphasizing that the factory did not have legal work permits.
At least five people were injured and brought to hospitals, the governor said.
Villegas asked for support from the municipal authorities of Tultepec to finalize the regulation related to crafts dealing with pyrotechnics.
The police and civil defense forces arrived at the scene of the explosion to strengthen security and control in the area to minimize such accidents. PNA/Sputnik / northboundasia.com
