SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Aug. 12 – A former resident of strife-torn Marawi City, who has been identified as a suspected drug pusher, was gunned down in a police buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay San Francisco here on Wednesday night.
Superintendent Dennis V. Rodriguez, city police chief, identified the suspect as Junaim N. Darimbang, alias “Jimboy”, 29, married, a native of Naga, Marawi City, but presently residing at Purok 5, Brgy. Cabaroan here.
Darimbang was recently tagged here as a new personality in the illegal drugs trade, but it was not known when he started living in the city.
Investigation showed that the police officers, Aldrin Carlo and Rene P. Ebreo, were about to conssummate a deal with Darimbang at about 11:00 p.m. when he sensed that he was transacting business with lawmen and allegedly fired his gun (calibre .38 pistol) against them.
The police officers promptly drew their guns and shot down Darimbang, who was killed on-the spot.
Operatives from the Scene of the Crime recovered from the scene are 3 pieces heat sealed sachet alleged shabu, 1 home made caliber 38 revolver loaded with two live ammunitions and two fired cartridge case, cash amount Php. 1,200, cellphone, ID’s, a getaway motorcycle, and 2 fired cartridges of 9mm which is believed to be used by the policemen.
Meanwhile, two persons were arrested for possession of illegal drugs and illegal firearms and ammunitions in a police operation recently in barangays Lingsat and Pagudpud this city.
The suspects were identified as Elen Nizzar A. Orallo, 40, residing along Dalumpinas road, Barangay Lingsat; and Ruel C. Pastrana, 32, newly-identified drug pusher of Brgy. San Francisco.
According to the police, Orallo was arrested by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Imelda Cosalan, MTCC Branch 1, San Fernando City. Seized from him werre four live bullets of cal. 45 pistol and two live ammunition for cal. 38 pistol, while Pastrana yielded four sachets of the banned methampethamine hydrocloride or shabu and drug paraphernalia.
