SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, November 21 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here is monitoring the prices of the most in-demand items including ‘Noche Buena’ products in the city’s public market and grocery stores.
Randolph Cacacho, DTI head here, said part of their monitoring activities is the posting of Suggested Retail Price (SRP) in said areas to guide the public on the prices of Christmas-related commodities.
He said several consumer protection programs have been lined up to prevent price abuse on certain products during the coming holidays.
“We will also deploy our personnel to monitor the price tags of Noche Buena products in grocery stores, as what we commonly do with the onset of the ‘ber’ months, to protect consumers against unnecessary price increases,” Cacacho said.
He expect that there will be no significant price increase in the noche buena products because there is adequate supply of these items in the market.
He also warned businessmen that they will be penalized under the Price Act of the Philippines if caught violating the SRP. Merlito G. Edale Jr./PIA-2/Isabela
