Drug suspect shot dead inside bus in La Union

 

SAN JUAN, La Union – A suspected illegal drug personality who allegedly surrendered to police during the height of Oplan Tokhang last year was shot dead by an unidentified gunman inside a passenger bus in Barangay Taboc here at around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinando Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the victim as Michael Macusi, married and resident of Barangay Poblacion, Sudipen town.

Initial investigation showed that Macusi and the suspect boarded a southbound Mosuela Mini-Bus (AAY 2736) at around 9:30 a.m. at the town plaza of Balaoan and upon reaching Barangay Taboc, the suspect allegedly told the driver to stop the vehicle as he was getting off .

When he stood up, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim on his head. The gunman immediately got off the bus and escaped towards a waiting motorcycle driven by another suspect wearing jacket and helmet.

Responding policemen found the victim’s body sprawled inside the bus. He was rushed to the Bacnotan District Hospital, where he died.

Investigators are looking into illegal drugs and the victim’s alleged involvement in a recent crime incident as motives of the killing. Jun Elias/NPN
