Drug Surrenderer Shot Dead In La Union

BANGAR, La Union – A drug suspect in the watch-list of authorities here who surrendered recently was shot dead by unidentified assailants at around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Agdeppa here.

Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado Jr, La Union police information officer, identified the victim as Edgardo Apolinar, 43, listed as illegal drug user and resident of Barangay Nagsabaran here.

Initial investigation showed that the victim was cleaning his tricycle when his killers riding on a blue XRM motorcycle shot him several times on the different parts of his head and body. The suspects, wearing helmets and jackets, escaped immediately fled.

A source said the suspects allegedly used a caliber .45 pistol in killing the victim, who was rushed to St. Catherine Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Chief Inspector Rogelio Miedes, Bangar police chief, said they are still determining the motive of the killing and the identify the suspects. JUN ELIAS/Northbound Philippines News Online
