BATAC CITY – For the City Schools Division of Batac, giving is the best way to celebrate the Christmas holiday season.
In this connection, the CSDB has launched a fund-raising event involving the dressing- up of a Christmas tree to encourage giving and sharing. The theme is “Magkasama Tayo sa Kuwento ng Unang Pasko” (We are together in the First Christmas Story).
The money raised in the activity will be used to purchase Information and Communication Technology gadgets and other ICT equipment for classroom teaching by students and teachers, according to Vilma Eda, schools division superintendent.
The Christmas tree, to be lit on December 7, will be completely at the expense of stakeholders who wish to share their blessings by buying decorations from the CSDB, which they will then hang themselves.
Cultural practice common in every place include the installing and lighting of Christmas trees, the hanging of Christmas stockings, candy canes, and the creation of Nativity scenes depicting the birth of Jesus Christ.
“The activity also aims to strengthen partnership with stakeholders and for us to remember the Messiah’s birth which is the true meaning of celebrating Christmas,” Eda said.
The project is expected to raise a total amount of P120,000 for ICT gadgets in time for next school- year. Cherry Joy D. Garma /PIA-1, Ilocos Norte
