DOT Allots P568-M For La Union-Benguet Road

SANTOL, La Union – The Department of Tourism has allotted a total of P568 million for the construction of a road that will connect the provinces of La Union and Benguet.

Santol Mayor Magno Wailan said that the budget for the road project was included in the 2018 General Appropriations Act and will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

“This will be one of the main roads that will connect the two provinces and will help the agri-tourism project of Governor Pacoy Ortega because it will ease the time of travel in going to Baguio from the northern towns of La Union,” Wailan said.

Wailan added that with the construction and opening of the road, tourists coming from Baguio will easily access the beaches of La Union, especially the surfing area in San Juan and Bacnotan, and even their travelling time to Vigan City will be shortened.

The road is about 20 kilometers long which will pass through the mountain villages of Santol and Kapangan, Benguet. Jun Elias/NPN-northboundasia.com
