DOT-2 to study Santiago City’s river development proposal

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — The Department of Tourism (DOT)- 2 will study the proposal of the city government of Santiago to develop the river banks of Ganano from Calao to Nagassican into a tourist spot.

DOT– 2 Regional Director Virgilio Maguigad said he has received the river development proposal of the city government and has conducted an inspection together with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority last week for possible funding.

Maguigad said the inspection activity is part of the proponent’s project proposal for possible funding.

He said aside from the river development tourism project, the city government also proposed to improve the existing tourism facilities of the Dariuk Hills Eco-Park to attract tourists.

He said the DOT will partner with LGUs to improve the existing tourism attractions and recommend to fund tourism development proposals of LGUs.

The tourism official said the department will continue to support all LGUs in the region not only in developing tourist attractions but also in improving the tourism-related local products of LGUs.
