BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan encouraged the people to participate in summer activities to spice up their stay in Baguio City.
Domogan on Maundy Thursday, March 24, after the courtesy call of the Baguio-Benguet Lucky Summer Visitor (BBLSV) said “Summer in Baguio”, the calendar of summer activities, would offer cultural, tourism, health and environmental and sports activities for both the residents and tourists who spent their summer vacation in the city.
To maintain peace and order, the SUMVAC (summer vacation) tourist assistance operations has been activated spearheaded by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) under Sr. Supt George Daskeo and in cooperation with the various civic and communications groups in the city in various strategic points in the city.
On March 27, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) will hold the Arts and Sciences Fun Run Activity at 4 a.m. at the Lake Drive, Burnham Park.
A training for Tourism Frontliners and Volunteers at the Baguio Convention Center will be conducted on April 19 to spruce up the tourist oriented activities.
Barangay festivals will take centerstage in April and May.
Arts features include the Flowing Land Taebaek Exhibit at SM City Baguio on April 6-8 and the Painting Exhibit at Bell House Camp John Hay from April 1-30.
The observance of Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9 at Veterans Park and Liberation of Baguio on April 27 also at the Veterans Park and the Flag Day on May 28 will make up the historical events of the calendar.
Other activities in April include Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral Fun Run (April 2); MUSAR Recital (April 20); Baguio German Shepherd Dog Club at Burnham Park (April 24).
The city government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will conduct the Labor Day Jobs Fair on May 1 at the Baguio Convention Center.
Cultural, sports and tourism events at the Baguio Convention Center include the Martial Arts Festival on May 14-15; Sabsabong ti Mayo, May 23-25; and Re- Cycle for Baguio, May 23-25. PNA/northboundasia.com
