DOLE Awards Livelihood Checks Worth P34M In Ilocos Region

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Labor and and Employment has distributed checks worth P34-million for livelihood assistance to fund 42 projects of 23 local government units in the Ilocos region.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the livelihood assistance was specially intended for workers who lost their jobs so thay can establish their own livelihood projects.
Bello, who traces his roots to the Ilocos, led the distribution of the checks at the Cicosat Colleges auditorium in Lingsat here last Friday, during his brief visit to this administrative capital.




The fund will enable the unemployed and rank-and-file workers to engage in enterprises and augment income as a result of the 42 projects which will benefit 6,030 workers in the informal sector in the 23 local government units.

 
By province, the LGUs and their assistance money, are:  Pangasinan, Mangatarem -P1,000,000; Mabini-P808,650; Sual-P1,400,000; Infanta-P2,160,000; Binmaley-P675,000.; Urbiztondo-P531,000; San Jacinto-P1,200,000; Santa Barbara-P600,000; Calasiao-P1,400,000; and the provincial government – P1,801,800.
