MANILA — Amid the series of earthquakes that has rocked various parts of the country, the Department of Health (DOH) said it has been preparing its response to the feared “Big One”.
“We have been preparing for this big magnitude 7 earthquake, and we have made contingency planning,” Health Secretary Dr. Paulyn Ubial has said.
Ubial noted that the department plans to establish its operation center outside Metro Manila and that they have prepositioned medicines and other supplies to be able to help the injured.
She further said that the department has continuously coordinated with its international partners so that they would be ready to assist the Philippines within 24 hours of a major quake.
”I think, the international community… is actually prepared. But of course, we cannot predict what will actually happen but we are ready for this type of scenario. We have Plans A, B and C,” the health chief assured. PNA-northboundasia.com
