CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Jan 5 (PNA) — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)–Isabela has awarded the provincial government here with a P7 million cash incentive for winning the 2015 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award.
DILG–Isabela head Elpidio Durwin handed the P7 million check to Governor Faustino G. Dy III during the first flag raising ceremony at the capitol hosted by the Office of the Governor.
The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) originated from Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH)that promotes transparency and accountability in local government operations.
It was introduced to challenge local governments to continue the good governance practices while providing better public services, prepare for the challenges posed by disaster, sensitive to the needs of vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the society, encourage investment and employment, protect the constituents from threats to life and security, safeguard the integrity of the environment.
Dy said the SGLG award proves that the provincial government is abiding to local government operations as mandated by the Local Government Code (LGC). He vowed to excel more for the benefit and welfare of every Isabelino.
He said the cash incentive will be used as additional fund of the provincial government for the welfare of Isabelinos. PNA/northboundasia.com
