SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources central office has reassigned the provincial environment and natural resources officers (Penro) of La Union andn Ilocos Sur and the community environment and natural resources officers (Cenro) of Alaminos City in Pangasinan and Bantay, Ilocos

Based on a document obtained by Northbound Philippines News Online here yesterday,Paquito Moreno Jr, DENR regional executive director, implemented the reassignment of Samuel Songcuan, Penro-La Union, to the Office of the Regional Director to handle special issues and concerns while Benjamin Abucay, Penro-Ilocos Sur, has been assigned as Cenro of Alaminos City.

Songcuan was replaced by Maximo Soriano, Jr., who was also the overseer of the National Greening Program in Region 1.

Abucay’s post as Penro-Ilocos Sur was assumed by Raymundo Gayo, former chief of the Surveys and Mapping Division.

Narciso Aragon, former Cenro of Alaminos City, has been designated as chief of the Surveys and Mapping Division while Florencio Soliven, Cenro of Bantay, Ilocos Sur, has been detailed at the Office of the Regional Director to handle special concerns.

Moreno said the four environment officials were assigned to their new tasks as part of DENR-1’s organizational development.

“The new assignments and designations of Penro and Cenro officers have been confirmed by the Office of the Secretary for the continuing organizational development which is being done from time to time,” Moreno said.

Moreno said the reshuffle of environmental officers is to ensure effective and efficient operation of the DENR regional office within
affordable levels and in most accountable manner.

Moreno also designated Lawyer Hipolito Salatan, former Daily Broadshit correspondet in Cagayan Valley, as acting chief of the Regional Public Affairs Office in concurrent capacity. Salatan has been appointed Attorney IV of the Legal Division.

RPAO is a unit under the direct supervision of the Regional Director serving as the primary information, education and communication arm of the DENR Regional Office 1. JUN ELIAS/
