Dec. 18 special non-working day in Tuguegarao

TUGUEGARAO CITY — President Rodrigo R. Duterte, through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, has issued Proclamation No. 375 declaring December 18 as a special non-working holiday in the city.

It marks the 18th Charter Day Anniversary of the city following its conversion from municipality to a component city of Cagayan North on Dec. 18, 1999.

With the holiday proclamation, the people of the city are given full opportunities to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

The day-long festivities will start with the celebration of the Holy Mass. Other activities are a lantern parade around the city and clean and green contest among the 49 barangays, among others.

Mayor Jefferson P. Soriano said, “We have reasons to celebrate the occasion as we have not only succeeded in boosting our local economy with the outpouring of investments and the generation of more employment opportunities but also transformed the city as the center of education social services and culture and the arts”.

The traditional “Paskuhan” or Christmas celebration in the city was launched yesterday (December 12) featuring a trade fair that showcases locally made products including gifts, toys and house wares, processed and fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other crafts, cultural shows and lighting of trees at the City Hall ground.
