DAR TURNS OVER PHP5.7-M POTABLE WATER PROJECTS IN CAGAYAN TOWN

TUGUEGARAO CITY, — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned over Tuesday a PHP5.7 million worth of Potable Water Systems (PWS) to ensure sufficient supply of clean and safe drinking water in Barangays Iluru Sur and Iluru Norte in Rizal, Cagayan.

DAR-2 regional director lawyer Marjorie P. Ayson said the PWS would greatly help reduce, if not eliminate, the occurrence of diarrhea and other water-borne diseases in the two barangays.

“Good quality water supply and good sanitation is essential to achieve healthy community,” Ayson said.

“DAR’s provision of potable water project is aimed at reducing water-borne diseases in the community, in addition to providing water for backyard livelihood opportunities such as vegetable production and other similar activities,” Ayson added.

Ayson also thanked the local government of Rizal led by Mayor Atty. Joel Ruma, as the implementing agency in-charge in managing the project and maintaining a good partnership with the department. PNA / northboundasia.com
