SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) awarded Medalya ng Papuri to police officers of Dagupan City led by Senior Inspector Bernabe F. Ramos for their exemplary performance of duty in responding to an indiscriminate firing incident earlier this March in Dagupan City.
The medals were awarded to the police officers on Monday after the flag-raising ceremony at the PRO 1 grandstand for their immediate response to a shooting incident that happened at Diamond Village on A.B. Fernandez East, Dagupan City, Pangasinan where two persons were wounded.
This resulted in a barricade situation and necessitated the immediate activation by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez of a Crisis Management Committee in the City Level to handle the situation.
The coordinated action made by the members of the crisis management committee led to the peaceful and voluntary surrender of the suspect identified as Dominic Fung, who holed up inside his house after shooting and wounding two victims.
Recovered from him were one caliber 9mm pistol, one magazine and one fired cartridge.
Cases for Violation of Republic Act 10591 and Alarm and Scandal were filed against the suspect before the Regional Trial Court in Dagupan City.
The police officers were cited for manifesting their effectiveness in placing behind bars the lawless elements which is worthy of emulation and recognition.
The medals were awarded to the recipients by Director Nelson G. Sarmiento, regional director of the Civil Service Commission, Region 1, assisted by Senior Supt. Reynaldo Biay, Deputy Regional Director for Operations and Senior Supt. Ferdinand Divina, Regional Chief Directorial Staff. PNA/northboundasia.com
