DAGUPAN CITY — After placing second to La Union last year, Dagupan City is now in front as the most competitive local government unit in Region 1 and jumped to the 15th spot from being 44th in this year’s overall ranking of the National Competitiveness Index under the independent component city category.
In 2014, Dagupan was 44th at the national overall ranking but climbed to number 19 in 2015 when Mayor Belen T. Fernandez implemented various programs and projects.
All these catapulted the city to its present number 15 position, owing to its good economic performance, numerous infrastructure projects built and for practicing good governance.
According to the National Competitiveness Council, Dagupan has improved its performance in terms of economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure which is a big leap from its performance in 2014.
This data will serve as the basis of the council in helping investors find places where to invest or set up a new business in any of the top performing LGUs in the country. PNA/northboundasia.com
