Dagupan mayor hails Gov. Marcos as new RPOC chair

LAOAG CITY — Mayor Belen Fernandez hailed Governor Imee Marcos of Ilocos Norte who succeeded her as chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Region 1 during a turnover ceremony Wednesday at Plaza Norte in Laoag City.

The turnover took place during the first RPOC quarterly meeting attended by all governors, city mayors, heads of various national government agencies, police and military officials in Region 1.

RPOC 1 vice chairman is Chief Supt. Charlo Collado, Police Regional Office I (PRO1) director.

“I believe the good Governor Imee Marcos is truly an outstanding choice as our next RPOC chair person. She has long and storied career in public service and her knowledge, understanding and experience on the intricacies and the broad issues on the role of peace and order in the success of our local governments will be imperative and a great advantage for a position of influence and responsibility like this,” Fernandez said.

On her second term of office, Mayor Fernandez was chair of RPOC in Region 1 for three years since 2013.

She said that as a local chief executive, her stint as RPOC chairperson had been an amazing experience and truly meaningful because all members of local governments and national agencies “were exceptionally helpful”.

She considers RPOC as a powerful platform for all local government units and institutions to advance and focus their energies to address pressing issues which are critical to the growth and development of communities. Leonardo Micua/PNAnorthboundasia.com
