Dagupan gov’t donates new vehicles, other equipment to police

DAGUPAN CITY — The city government has earmarked PHP9.7 million for procurement of vehicles, rifles and other equipment to aid the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) in its operations.

DCPS officer-in-charge Police Supt. Jandale Sulit, in an interview, said four new vehicles worth PHP4.3 million, consisting of two Toyota Hi-Lux FB, one Hi-Lux 2×4 and one Toyota Vios, were turned over to the station on Monday.

The two new Hi-Lux FB vehicles have been assigned to Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to be used for its patrolling in the city, while the Toyota Vios has been given to Police Community Precinct 4 in Barangay Bolosan.

The Hi-Lux 2×4 has been allotted for the DCPS’ chief of police to be utilized in rendering his official duties.

Currently, there are 11 police mobile patrol vehicles being used by DCPS.

“Aside from the vehicles, there will also be three big bikes for our SpeedCop; more office equipment for our station, and 14 M4 rifles and other equipment for the SWAT Team,” Sulit said.

Police Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, Regional Director of Philippine National Police Region I, reminded the members of DCPS to value the vehicles as their own.

“This means trust, the trust the people have given us. In return, we should take care of these things they have entrusted us with,” Sapitula said in his speech during the turn-over ceremony.

Sulit expressed his gratitude to the city government for the new vehicles given to them.  Ahicam Pasion /PNA-northboundasia.com
