Dagupan City, Pangasinan town cancel classes due to ‘Ompong’

DAGUPAN CITY — Classes in all levels in Bani town were cancelled as early as Wednesday afternoon, while those in all levels in this city were also declared suspended for Thursday to Saturday due to Typhoon ‘Ompong’.

“Kanselado na ang lahat ng antas ng klase sa publiko at pribadong paaralan ngayon hapon (Classes in all levels both in public and private schools this afternoon September 12 are now cancelled),” Bani Mayor Gwen Palafox-Yamamoto posted in her official Facebook page.

Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez suspended classes in all levels on Sept. 13 to 15.

As typhoon Ompong (international name Mangkhut) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the mayor said evacuation centers are ready.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Sports Commission released an advisory that the opening ceremonies for the Batang Pinoy National Finals scheduled this weekend were cancelled.
