DAGUPAN CITY — Some 60 ambulant vendors here will soon receive Php15, 000 worth of livelihood assistance each from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) upon the request of the city government here.
Emma Molina, city agriculture officer, said the amount will be given in the form of a “NegoKart”, with a uniform design and color made by the city engineering office and approved by DOLE.
Molina said the total amount of the 60 units of NegoKart or Php900, 000 will be turned- over by DOLE to the city government on Friday.
“We have submitted the proposal for this livelihood assistance last year intended to finance for the ambulant vendors in the city and finally, it was approved”, said Molina.
She said the ambulant vendors were profiled and selected by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD).
“The chosen vendors are those already actively selling their products as they are perceived to have capital because the project only provides a new cart,” said Molina.
She said the NegoKart units will also be an added attraction in the city as the vendors will be placed in one area.
“It is an added boost also for the sales of the vendors because the uniform carts will give each one of them an equal opportunity, since not all of them can afford a new cart,” said Molina. PNA / northboundasia.com
