MOSCOW — The death toll in tropical cyclone Winston’s onslaught in Fiji over the weekend has risen to 29, media reported Tuesday.
On Sunday, the category 5 tropical cyclone made a landfall on the South Pacific island as the most powerful storm recorded in the Southern Hemisphere.
According to the BBC, 8,500 people are currently in evacuation centers, with clear-up expected to take months.
On Monday, National Disaster Management Office of the country stated that at least four people were confirmed missing.
