Critics Look For PNP Lapses To Bring Down Administration, Says De La Rosa

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said here that administration critics and the opposition are looking for the lapses of the police to bring down President Duterte.
“The misdeeds of police scalawags are being capitalized by the opposition and anti-Duterte administration critics to destroy us but the real target is the President,” Dela Rosa said in a message during the celebration of the 116th Police Administration Service Anniversary here last Thursday.
“They want to destroy the President through the PNP because they know that we are the closest organization to the heart of the President because he trusts us in implementing his centerpiece project on drug war,” he added.
“Bato” claimed that a simple police misdeed is blown by critics, making it into a big issue until it affects the Duterte administration.
He advised policemen to do their job properly and police their own ranks of bad eggs to eliminate erring personnel.
“Our eagerness in doing our duties should not be in our hearts alone. Let’s use also our brain so that they cannot use those lapses against us. As law enforcers, we are bound to face criticisms from various sectors. We endure the risks and danger, not only in the conduct of operations, but also in rescuing and recovering victims of disasters,” he said.
He added that policemen should be very careful in doing the job because they are being observed by the people, especially those against the administration.
“ So be careful in doing your job as a simple mistake is being observed and used by critics to destroy us,” he added.
The PNP Chief congratulated the Ilocos Region police, headed by Chief Superintendent Charlo Collado, for being adjudged as the best regional police office for 2016.
