Couple manufacturing fake vehicle plates nabbed in QC

MANILA — Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a couple engaged in the illegal manufacture of motor vehicle plates in Barangay Bagong Silangan Wednesday morning.

QCPD public information office chief Chief Insp. Titoy Jay Cuden identified the arrested suspects as Kristine Nemenzo and her common-law-husband Jahaziel Alcantara.

The two were arrested around 8:30 a.m. at their home in Number 9 Dove St, Sitio Veterans, Barangay Silangan, of the above-mentioned city.

Seized from their possession were 29 pieces of fake motor vehicle plates, three motorcycle plates, 33 sheets of steel plates, a laptop, a cutting board, one record book, 25 receipts, assorted plate layouts along with a Volkswagon with a fake plate number (NFR-262).

The operation stemmed from the search warrant, issued for violation of Presidential Degree 1730 in relation to Article 11 Section 11, Republic Act 4136, by Judge Fernando Sagun of Regional Trial Court Branch 78. Priam Nepomuceno/PNA-Photo Courtesy: MICHAEL ROGAS, PBS
