COPS LAUNCH MANHUNT VERSUS JAILGUARD

URDANETA CITY — Police have launched a A manhunt against jail officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who shot and killed one person and wounded six others during a wake in Barangay San Jose here at 10:15 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 29).

The suspect, JO1 Roderick Escat, shot to death one Rolando Norberto of Zone 4b in Barangay San Jose, Urdaneta City using a Caliber 9mm pistol.

Wounded by stray bullets in the shooting were Eusebio Escat, 46, brother of the suspect who is a member of the Public Order and Safety Office of Urdaneta City; their uncle Segundo Escat, 78; Dominador Soliven, 52; Efren Quinones, 49; Romulo Norberte, 47;and Rommel Norberte, 18, all of the same village, who were all rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect fled immediately after the shooting bringing along his firearm.

Motive of the incident was an old grudge between the suspect and the victim. PNA/northboundasia.com
