Cops arrest 5 gun ban violators in Pangasinan

 

URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan— Five persons, including a resort crew with a toy gun replica and a retired provincial jail officer, have been arrested in different towns and cities in the province for violating the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) due to the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) starting April 14.

The Urdaneta City Police Station (UCPS) arrested the resort crew, identified as Jasyon Peralta, 29, a resident of Sitio Awed Palina East this city, for threatening a client with a pellet gun on April 14.

Police Supt. Rollyfer Capoquian, chief of UCPS in an interview on Monday, said that the suspect used a toy replica of a 1911 pistol.

In Dagupan City, Benjamin Salud, 31, a resident of Blue Beach Subdivision and Joseph De Vera, 29, a resident of Bonuan Binloc, were arrested for malicious mischief and direct assault to authority aside from carrying deadly weapons.

Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) said the two suspects, while under the influence of liquor, threw mono block chairs at Bonuan Tondaligan beach on April 14, prompting a concerned citizen to call the police.

Responding police officers recovered bladed weapons from Salud and De Vera.

In San Fabian town, police apprehended retired provincial jail officer, Antonio Corpuz, 69, a resident of Sagug Bahley, after taking him to a hospital for medical check up due to a vehicular accident along Maharlika Highway. Police recovered a caliber .38 revolver from his motorcycle compartment.

In Manaoag, police arrested Michael Caoile, 21, a resident of Pugaro Manaoag, for carrying two bladed weapons. Hilda Austria and Ahicam Pasion/PNA-northboundasia.com
