Coop to enforce 12-hour power cut on Baguio, La Trinidad customers on Tuesday

BAGUIO CITY — The Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) has scheduled a whole day power interruption on Tuesday, November 10, in order to undertake repair and improvement work on their Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet lines.

Beneco Network Services Department Manager Melchor Licoben said that the electric service interruption would start at 6 a.m. Tuesday and end at 6 p.m. the same day.

Licoben said households and business establishment being serviced by feeder lines 5 through 10 would experience the 12-hour brownout in order to decommission the old 20MVA (megavolt ampere) power transformer; transfer the BUSBAR of the 20MVA transformer to the 50MVA power transformer; retire the 69KV (kilovolt) National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) current transformer; and uprating of primary poles of Beneco’s primary lines of the feeders.

Licoben said about 42,575 customer-members of the electric cooperative are expected to be affected by the power outage.

However, he clarified that the southern portion of Baguio and La Trinidad will still have power on Nov. 10 because they are not serviced by feeders 5 through 10.

The areas exempted from the power outage are: Upper Ambiong, Ambuklao Road portion, APTS, Sim-sim Compound, Regidor st., Maria Basa, Liteng, Pacdal Circle, Sispno Road, Botanical Garden, Pucsusan, Tavera St., Kneedler St., Poblete Extension, John Hay, BCC, Country Club Village, Happy Hallow, Lamut, Marlboro Country, DZWT, GMA, RPN, DZBS, Lualhati, Felipe, Moran, Apostol, De Los Reyes, Europa, Modesta, Good Shepperd, Cuneta, Mines View Park areas, Gibraltar, Romulo Drive, Tuding road, Outlook Drive, Mary Hurst, Lucnab, Teachers Camp to Forbes Park DS, Balangabang, DENR Compound, Villamor St., Portion of Outlook Drive, Innsbruck, South Drive, Portion of Paterno St., DPS Compound, Lower Cabinet Hill, Green Water, Wagner Road, Military Cut-off, Sta. Licoben also said that the power service interruption would also give cable and communication companies using the pole of Beneco to inspect and institute necessary safety measures before work in order that their cable will not be affected by the work scheduled by Beneco.
