CHINESE BUSINESSMAN KILLED IN PAGSANJAN, LAGUNA ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

PAGSANJAN, Laguna — Police Senior Insp. Vicente Jarque, chief of police, in this town reported Friday that a Chinese businessman identified as Hung Ching Min also known as Ben Ang, 58, of Baragay Biñan here was shot to death by two unidentified gunmen minutes before New Year.

Jarque said that at about 11:45 New Year’s eve, Ang was shot by two unidentified gunmen just about 15 meters from his residence as he was going to the nearby building.

Jarque added that the victim managed to fire back at the gunmen who immediate fled from the scene. However, the victim was reported dead while on the way to the Holy Family Hospital at the nearby Santa Cruz town due to three wounds he sustained at the back and side portion of his body from 45 caliber pistol.

Police authorities are still conducting investigation as to the motive and the identities of the assailants.

Meanwhile, Jarque said that the continuous rain limited the volume of firecrackers and pyrotechnics on New Year’s eve with 20 minors injuries caused by ‘picolo’ firecrackers. Dick Garay/PNA/northboundasia.com
