CHINA CONSULATE TO BUILD CLASSROOMS FOR ILOCOS NORTE STUDENTS

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte — The Chinese Consulate of Laoag is set to donate at least two classrooms for students of the Paoay Lake National High School here.

Matilde Neri, head of the Provincial Education Department of the Ilocos Norte government, confirmed this on Monday following an assurance from the Chinese government through its representatives at the Chinese Consulate based in neighboring San Nicolas town.

Said classrooms will be used later on for students who want to study Chinese language.

Earlier, the Chinese Consulate offered at least one-year scholarship grant for some local teachers here who are interested to study Chinese language in China.

Under the special program, successful applicants shall agree to return to the country after a year and teach Chinese students in the province or anybody interested to learn the language.

For interested applicants, Neri said they may just inquire at the Provincial Education Department tasked to evaluate application prior to endorsement at the Chinese Consulate here. PNA/northboundasia.com
