SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson is endorsing Vice- President Jejomar Binay and Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for president and vice- president, respectively, in the 2016 polls.
“Chavit,” a candidate for vice- governor in Ilocos Sur, made this disclosure last Friday during Binay’s sorties in the province accompanied by Rep. Frannie Eriguel and Agoo town mayor Sandra Eriguel.
“Chavit” expressed belief that the almost five million voters of the so-called “Solid North” will be united for Binay and “Bongbong” because both candidates, he said, are acceptable to the electorates in the region.
The “Solid North” is composed of the three Ilocos provinces, Pangasinan, Benguet, Kalinga, Apayao, Ifugao, Quirino, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and some parts of Nueva Ecija.
“Bongbong”, son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, hails from Ilocos Norte while Binay is a native of Cabagan, Isabela.
Actress Alma Moreno, retired Gen. Getulio Napenas, former PNP Special Action Forces chief; and Lawyer Allan Montano, who are running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance banner accompanied Binay in his visit to the province.
Moreno traces her roots to Cervantes, Ilocos Sur while Napeñas is from Luna, La Union. JUN ELIAS/NorthboundPH
