SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson is now a councilor in his new town after he won the number four slot of the eight elected members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur in the May 9 elections.
Chavit transferred his residency from Vigan City to Barangay Sulvec in Narvacan early last year.
On Dec. 10, 2015, Chavit withdrew his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the vice gubernatorial post of Ilocos Sur, although at that time, he is already unopposed, in favor of his younger brother, Board Member Jerry Singson.
After withdrawing his COC, Chavit substituted Epifania Canaria, a candidate for councilor in Narvacan, and joined 20 other aspirants for the town councils.
Aside from Chavit, other members of the Singson clan who emerged winners in the recent elections are his son Ryan Singson and brother Jerry, both unopposed candidates for governor and vice governor, respectively.
Rep. Eric Singson was reelected congressman in the second district while his son Ericson Singson was elected mayor of Candon City and his vice mayor is Alfonso Singson.
Jimboy Singson was elected member of the provincial board in the second district while John Patrick Singson was elected councilor of Vigan City.
Carlo Medina, the eldest son of Mayor Eva Marie Singson-Medina and former Mayor Ferdinand Medina, is the new elected mayor of Vigan. Jun Elias/northboundasia.com
