BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A cargo truck which suffered a mechanical failure has slowed down the flow of traffic among commuters passing the national highway portion of the Carranglan, Nueva Ecija – Dalton Pass, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.
Police said the traffic which started Friday night snailed down the travel time of commuters going in and out of Cagayan Valley region.
“We were delayed for 10 hours on our way to Metro Manila because of the incident. We hope that authorities will be more faster in their response,” said Peter Ohio, a commuter.
Police authorities have declared a one way traffic among southbound vehicles, even advising the commuters to take the Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya – Benguet road to prevent them from being delayed for hours and even days.
The Dalton Pass, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya – Carranglan, Nueva Ecija road section has posed a perennial problem among commuters due to landslide during the downpour of heavy rain and accidents caused by overloaded cargo trucks.
The national government has pushed the construction of alternate route from Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya to Carranglan, Nueva Ecija to enable commuters to escape heavy traffic along the traffic – prone section of the national highway. PNA/northboundasia.com
