Caloocan parish to host mass for EJK victims Sunday

MANILA — Another city in the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to host a mass for the victims of extrajudicial killings (EJK) in the country and their families on Sunday

According to the conveners of the Holy Eucharist-Mass Action (HEMA), the third HEMA will be held at the Sto. Nino Parish in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

“We gather to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the 7,000+ EJK victims throughout our nation and to listen together to the cries of their bereaved family members,” the group said in a statement.

Invited to join the mass are several bishops, priests, religious communities, and seminarians.

Aside from the Eucharistic Celebration, the families of EJK victims will be allowed to talk about their experiences and concerns.

“Their testimonies caused many in the assembly to understand the real experiences of trauma and the present family life concerns of the victims,” the HEMA added.

The first two HEMAs were held at the Our Lady of Victory Chapel in Malabon City last Feb. 2, and at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Baclaran, Parañaque City last March 2.

The HEMA is a non-partisan and prophetic response of the Catholic lay faithful and priests to the spiritual and corporal needs of the families, who were victims of EJKs in the country. PNA-northboundasia.com
