Call agents of Ilocos Norte 911 emergency hotline to undergo training

LAOAG CITY — Call center agents of the Ilocos Norte 911 emergency hotline number will undergo a five-day training in Manila for them to level up their skills in taking down notes and to quickly dispatch and monitor first responders in times of emergency.

At least three young employees of the Provincial Government and a police officer are assigned per shift at the Provincial Incident Response Management (PIRM) center based at the ground floor of the Ilocos Norte Capitol. These call agents take turns on three shifts as the center operates round the clock.

To formalize their training on how to efficiently handle emergency calls, Wilfredo Lorenzo Jr., Officer-in-Charge of the Information Technology department, said assigned Capitol workers in the province will participate in a short-term training course to be facilitated by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch starting on Mach 29 to April 4, 2017.

Said training will also be joined by other call takers manning similar emergency hotline centers in Bataan, Tarlac, Parañaque and La Union.

The Ilocos Norte government launched the PIRM 911 in December last year and had just assigned newbie employees from the Communication and Media Office to man the center. PNA-northboundasia.com
