‘Butchoy’ enters PAR

MANILA — The eye of Typhoon “Nepartak”, now locally named ‘Butchoy’, has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

It was located at 1,440 km east of Baler, Aurora.

PAGASA’s weather forecast before noon stated that “Nepartak” has the maximum winds of 120 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

It is expected to move northwest at 30 kph, PAGASA added.

“Nepartak” is the first of three tropical cyclones that PAGASA expects to enter PAR this month. PNA/northboundasia.com
