BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan, (PNA) — Dr. Cesar Quiambao, a known business tycoon here, on Tuesday led “Team Quiambao” when he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the mayoralty race.
His team of independents include his runningmate Raul Sabangan, and those vying for councilor positions namely Melvyn Junio, Martin Gerado, Joseph Vincent Ramos, Benjamin De Vera, Francisco Dumalanta, Dominador Flores, Jonie Angeles and Amory Junio.
“We do not want political debt that’s why we chose to be independent despite our connections and affiliations with higher government officials in Congress and Senate,” Quiambao said.
The businessman vowed to focus on the industrialisation of well-known agricultural products of the town such as onion and fishes, as well as the use of technology in addressing illegal drug problem of the town.
His main platform centers on the fight against graft and corruption and political dynasty.
“I have been helping them (politicians) in their projects here in our beloved town but all the while there were cases against them on alleged corruption, so it’s time I continue my service to the people on a different level,” Quiambao, who is also a known philanthropist in the town, said.
One of Quiambao’s projects is the Kasama Ka sa Barangay Foundation, which helps out-of-school youths and housewives finish vocational courses with the help of the Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Quiambao will run against the wife of incumbent mayor Ricardo Camacho, Zenaida, who is the incumbent village chief of Barangay Buayaen.
