Beach Volleyball Republic to hold matches in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY — Eight men’s team and another eight from the distaff side will see action in the Beach Volleyball Republic on February 25-26 as part of their nationwide tour to promote the development and growth of beach volleyball in the countryside.

The team will show their wares before volleyball fans in their matches at the Tondaligan Blue Beach starting at 10:00 in the morning of February 25 and from 7:00 a.m. on February 26.

Organizers of these matches released the names of participating teams and their players in both the men and women’s divisions.

Men’s Division — University of Sto. Tomas: KR Guzman and Krung Arbasto; Philippine Army: Randy Fallorina and Michael Reyes; Philippine Air Force: Ranran Abdilla and Jeff Malabanan; Far Easter University: Kevin Hadlocon and Jeremiah Barrica; UST 2 – Romnick Rico and Ian Yee; PA 2 – Jason Uy and Joel Villonson; Louijei Tipgos and Calvin Sarte; and A/J Pareja/Henry Pecaña.

In the women’s division, the teams are BVR – Charo Soriano/ Bea Tan; BVR 2– Dzi Gervacio/Amy Ahomiro/Fille Cainglet; Amanda Villanueva/Rap Aguilar; Pocari – Mel Gohing/Elaine Kasilag; UST – Kassie Gormley/Jinggay Bangad; Jonafer San Pedro/Abegail Nuval; FEU – Marianna Calinawan/MJ Ebro; Army – Jem Gutierrez/Jeannie Delos.

The Beach Volleyball Republic organizes beach volleyball tournaments in different beaches and public places in the country with a grassroots development program for the young and aspiring players.

“We are lucky to host this event in our city and we hope to spur the interest of our children and students to engage themselves in learning and playing the game,” said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.

She said Tondaligan Park is now all set to be the venue of the national beach volleyball event.

Through the initiative of Mayor Fernandez, Dagupan has started its own sports program called “B.T.F. Does it” aiming to train and develop the potentials of the city’s athletes. Leonardo Micua/
