Baguio police gives safety tips to visitors

BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) is advising residents and tourists alike to take extra precaution when in public places to prevent being victimized by unscrupulous persons that could ruin their holiday celebration.

Police Senior Superintendent Ramil Saculles on Tuesday gave six tips to tourists coming to Baguio.

First,  they must protect their personal belongings while in the streets. Second is to avoid crowded areas whenever possible as these are usually the same areas where thieves also abound.

Third, they should avoid bringing or being seen with large amounts of money.

For tourists staying in hotels, inns and transient houses, Saculles advised them to inform the house owner or the hotel front desks when they go out and lock the doors properly.

He also advised visitors to deposit their valuables in safety deposit boxes for security purposes.

Saculles said they have already coordinated with the different accommodation establishments in the city for the safety and security of visitors.

Leaflets containing safety tips were also distributed in said establishments, he added.
