Baguio mayor announces entry of ‘Dindo’, activates CDRRMC

BAGUIO CITY, Aug. 24 (PNA) -– Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan took the role of a weatherman when he announced the weather condition on Wednesday, August 24, during the “Ugnayan with the Mayor” aired over PBS Radyo ng Bayan-Baguio.

Domogan announced the Severe Weather Bulletin 1 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stating that “as of 1 p.m. this afternoon, a typhoon with international name ‘Lionrock’ has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was named ‘Dindo’.”

Estimated rainfall amount is moderate to heavy within the 500 kilometers (km) diameter of the typhoon and is located at 1,200 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

Typhoon “Dindo” is forecast to move South Southwest at 7 kph.

Domogan, after reading the weather forecast, activated the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and reminded the council and barangay officials to take all necessary precautionary measures.

Domogan said Typhoon “Dindo” may not directly affect Baguio City “but that is enough reason to be aware and careful, considering that it is a weather disturbance.” Jojo Lamaria/PNA/
