Baguio City is ready for the visit of the Miss Universe candidates

BAGUIO CITY –This city is ready for the coming of the 65th Miss Universe delegation on Wednesday.

Venus Tan, director of Department of Tourism – Cordillera Regional Office (DOT-CAR) said 2015 Ms. Universe Pia Wurtzbach and 28 Miss Universe candidates will arrive at the Loakan Airport here at 8 a.m. on Wednesday where a red carpet welcome awaits them.

Wurtzbach and candidates will be welcomed by Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Baguio City Rep. Marquez Go, Tan and Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) president and Baguio Country Club (BCC) general manager Anthony de Leon in a simple rite to be followed a silent drill exhibition by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

A mini Panagbenga Flower Float parade from Upper Session Road to the BCC via South Drive will follow at 10 a.m.

The gIving of Baguio City symbolic keys to candidates will follow upon their arrival at BCC where they will spend most of their time during their visit to the city.

Tan said all other government line agencies will be tapped to ensure that the visit is secured and will go on smoothly.

She urged everyone to unite together in welcoming the candidates and see the event as an opportunity to showcase Baguio City as it is envisioned to be.

“Let us hope that they (the candidates) will stay on after the pageant and return and enjoy more of the Cordilleras,” Tan said.

The beauties will pick strawberries at the mini BCC Strawberry Farm and plant trees indigenous to Baguio City. also at the BCC.

The candidates will be toured to BCC’s Infinity Garden where Baguio’s products, culture, arts and dances will be showcased.

Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge (OIC) director Police Senior Supt. Ramil L. Saculles said their three-day security preparation conforms to international standards.

Saculles assured the safety of the candidates and their escorts while in the city.

He said the BCPO takes charge of the security outside the BCC and company security agency takes over while the visitors are inside the premises of the BCC.
