‘Auring’ accelerates, now moves towards Surigao del Norte

MANILA — Tropical depression ‘Auring’ slightly moved faster and changed its direction as it now moves towards Surigao del Norte, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 2 p.m. update, PAGASA said ‘Auring’ was located at 80 kilometers north northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

‘Auring’ is now moving northwest at 9 kph and is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Sur between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) #1 is raised over the provinces in Visayas of Bohol, Siquijor, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Guimaras, Southern part of Iloilo and Southern part of Antique. And in the Mindanao provinces of Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Dinagat Province, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Northern Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur.

PAGASA said estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within 300 km diameter of the tropical depression. It also advised residents in areas under TCWS #1 and those in Eastern and Central Visayas to be on alert against possible flash floods and landslides.

‘Auring’ is forecast to be at 80 km west of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte on Monday, at 20 km Vicinity of Cuyo, Palawan on Tuesday, and at 210 km west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Wednesday.
