LAOAG CITY — Some district hospitals here are in dire need of new ambulances.
To address this concern, a resolution was unanimously passed by members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Wednesday requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to donate six ambulance units to Ilocos Norte.
Dr. Rogelio Balbag, chairperson of the provincial board’s committee on health, said most of the ambulance units of the district hospitals here were already old and dilapidated and need immediate replacement.
With the PCSO’s commitment to provide health and welfare assistance to Filipinos, the provincial government is optimistic that the government charity agency will grant the request.
In January this year, the PCSO led by its chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz personally visited Laoag City and turned over a total of 13 ambulance units for Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Abra.
Of the 13 ambulance units, Ilocos Norte received six.
One unit was given to each of the municipalities of Dingras, Bangui, Pagudpud, and Sarrat; the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC); and the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH-MC) in Batac City. PNA-northboundasia.com
