ALLEGED ROBBERY LEADER IN NUEVA ECIJA KILLED

GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — A suspected leader of a notorious Akyat Bahay was killed on Friday when he and a companion engaged in an armed encounter with law enforcers in Barangay San Vicente here.

Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, commander of the Nueva Ecija police’s Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) identified the fatality as Louie Garcia,43, a resident of Purok Riles in the same village.

Villanueva said that the suspects were about to break into a motorcycle shop in the city when intercepted by lawmen along NIA Road in Barangay San Vicente at around 3:15 a.m. Friday.

“The suspect, armed with a cal. 38 revolver fired at the policemen,” Villanueva said.

His cohort, however, was managed to escape on board a single motorcycle towards neighboring town of San Isidro, Villanueva said.

“This group was responsible in a series of robbery and motornapping in Gapan in the last few days,” he said.
